Tears of Fabio Quartararo in Jerez
The Spanish MotoGP at the Jerez Circuit should be a memorable race for Fabio Quartararo. But damage to the motor made it finish the race with tears.

Quartararo made a big surprise when taking pole position in the Spanish MotoGP qualifying session. Not just a pole, the 20-year-old rookie also broke Marc Marquez's record as the youngest rider who managed to get a leading position.

In the race held at the Jerez Circuit on Sunday (5/5/2019) night WIB, Quartararo also appeared solid. Despite losing the leading position since the beginning because of being overtaken by Marquez, he was able to compete in the front rider crowd when he finished third.

But the fateful came to the French rider on lap 14, from a total of 25 competed. Being in second place, Quartararo motorcycles suddenly slowed down. Television shows showed he had a problem with the gear shifter.

"When I learned that I couldn't change the position of my teeth, I knew everything was over. I was stuck in the third gear. I went into the pit. There was nothing else to do," Quartararo was quoted as saying from Crash.

Quartararo was so devastated that he had to retire early. He looked very annoyed on his motorbike, then cried when he arrived at the Petronas Yamaha SRT garage.

"At that time the race went very well. I feel good on the motorbike. It feels amazing to compete with top riders."

"Yes, there is a small problem with the gear shifters, something that is very small but harms us in a very large amount. But as in Qatar, we leave behind things here and bring positive things to home," he finished.
